Katherine Cowan (The James Lind Alliance (JLA))
Katherine is the chair of the Steering Group and has been working with the JLA since 2008, developing methods for involving patients and clinicians in setting priorities for research. She chairs a number of Priority Setting Partnerships and also co-wrote the JLA Guidebook. Her role is to ensure that the process is undertaken in a fair, rigorous and transparent way, with input from patients, their partners and healthcare professionals.
Administrative support and coordination of activities:
Hayley Atkin (Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH))
Hayley joined FSRH in August 2015 as part of FSRH’s new Policy and Standards team. In her role as Policy Assistant she drafts FSRH consultation responses, monitors ongoing SRH policy developments and provides support for various FSRH Committees.
Dr Zhong Eric Chen (Research Systematic Review Support)
Eric is a Researcher at the FSRH Clinical Effectiveness Unit (CEU) based at Chalmers Centre, Edinburgh. This role involves conducting systematic reviews to inform evidence-based medicine.
Eric’s research interest is in sexual and reproductive health and he comes from a multi-disciplinary background (PhD in Sociology, MSc in Public Health Research and BSc in Reproductive Biology). Eric utilises both qualitative and quantitative methods in his research and has tutored students at Honours and Postgraduate level on research methodologies.
Eric also works as a youth worker in various voluntary and statutory sector organisations including the Health Opportunities Team, an Edinburgh-based sexual and emotional health youth charity, and the City of Edinburgh Council.
